Clwyd West MS Darren Millar was pleased to officially open new play equipment at Llanarmon Playing Field at the weekend, marking an important milestone in local efforts to improve recreational facilities for families.
The new equipment, which includes slides, swings, and climbing frames, was made possible thanks to a National Lottery grant of £91,805 awarded to Llanarmon-yn -Iâl Community Council.
Work on installing the new equipment began on September 1st and Darren was delighted to visit and officially open the new facilities on Saturday.
Commenting afterwards, he said:
“This was a momentous occasion for the village, and I was pleased to be a part of it. It was an honour to be asked to undertake the official opening of these impressive new facilities and to join in the celebrations, especially given that I undertook the opening of the village's Skate Park some 10 years ago.
“This space has been created with inclusivity and fun in mind and it was great to see so many local families come together to celebrate the opening and to enjoy the Fun Day that the council had arranged with an array of activities and refreshments.
“Play areas are vital to the well-being of our young people, promoting physical activity, creativity and strong social connections among families.
“This new play equipment will bring joy to children in Llanarmon-yn-Iâl for many years to come, and I thank the Community Council, Norma Wright, the council's clerk, and the National Lottery Community Fund for making it possible.”
Cllr Terry Mendies, who also attended the official opening and Fun Day, said:
“It was an absolute pleasure to attend the opening and to see the children enjoying the new equipment.
“I thank the Community Council for all their efforts in securing this grant from the National Lottery.
“This investment in our local community will help families spend quality time together and create a lasting sense of pride in our community.”
