Clwyd West Assembly Member Darren Millar, who is Chair of the Assembly Cross Party Group on the Armed Forces and Cadets, has welcomed the Chancellor’s announcement today that businesses hiring veterans will receive National Insurance relief.
In his first budget, Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak revealed plans for a one-year Employer National Insurance Contributions (NICS) holiday for small businesses that employ Armed Forces veterans.
Welcoming the news, Darren, who has repeatedly called for more help for both veterans and small businesses , said today’s announcement is great news for both.
He said:
“This is absolutely fantastic news which will benefit small businesses, veterans and the economy.
“It can be extremely difficult for ex-service personnel to find work after leaving the forces and today’s announcement will result in more employment opportunities being available to them. It is also tough for small businesses, so this relief for 12 months will be of great benefit and help them to grow and develop”.
