Clwyd West AM Darren Millar is calling on those against plans for a gypsy/traveller site in a quiet village to make their views known by joining in a protest march this weekend.
The march against Conwy County Borough Council’s plans to put a gypsy and traveller site on Smithy Layby, St George, has been organised by the St George Gypsy/Traveller Site Action Group and will start at the Smithy Layby at 10am on Saturday and proceed up to St George Village Hall
Darren, who persuaded the Council to extend its consultation on the plans until 4.45pm on Friday 6th February, said.
“It is crucial that people make their views known and this protest march is the ideal opportunity to convey to Conwy Council yet again how strongly residents are opposed to the proposals for St George.
“It is vital that we stay strong in this fight and expose the weaknesses in the flawed decision making process that has resulted in these plans. The weather may be cold at the moment but I urge all those who do not want this traveller site in their village to wrap up on Saturday morning and join the March.
“I am confident that if we continue using people power to object to these plans , we can win this campaign.”
Tim Rowlands, Chairman of the St George Gypsy/Traveller Site Action Group, added: “The proposal to put a gypsy site at the Smithy Layby in St George just doesn't make sense. It's important that as many people as possible make their views know to Conwy County Borough Council by the deadline date.”
