Clwyd West AM Darren Millar is delighted to have received news today that the Education Minister has rejected Denbighshire County Council’s request to close a Denbighshire village school.
Darren has been campaigning alongside parents, local residents and the Church in Wales to save Ysgol Llanbedr since Denbighire County Council’s Cabinet confirmed in January last year its intention to close the 150 year old rural school.
Darren said:
“At last the uncertainty is over for parents, pupils and staff of Ysgol Llandbedr. I am absolutely delighted that the Minister has recognised the flaws in the Council's decision making process and the importance of this village school to the local community.
"Ysgol Llanbedr is a fantastic, unique school being the only rural faith school around Ruthin offering English medium education. I am so pleased that the fighting has paid off and that the school can now look forward to hopefully a long and successful future.”
Cllr Huw Williams, who represents Llanbedr DC added;
“I couldn’t be more pleased at this outcome. It has been a tough fight, but well worth it to secure such an excellent school for future generations.”
