Having received correspondence from a number of constituents concerned about the impact of significant numbers of visitors to tourist destinations in North Wales amid the coronavirus crisis and the risks that this may pose to local NHS services and residents, Clwyd West AM Darren Millar has called on the Welsh Government to provide guidance.
Darren is currently being contacted by lots of people who are concerned about the additional risks and pressures that tourists may cause for local NHS services and food suppliers.
He has therefore tabled a written question to the Welsh Government to request guidance on the matter.
He said:
“I can fully appreciate concerns in relation to the impact of significant numbers of visitors to tourist destinations and the risks that this may pose to local NHS services and residents.
“While a number of holiday parks in North Wales have already taken the decision to close for an indefinite period, others are currently open, albeit with some of their facilities closed. To date, neither the UK or Welsh Governments have issued advice to holiday accommodation providers or second home or holiday caravan owners.
“Given local concerns I have tabled a written question to the Welsh Government to request guidance on this matter but in the meantime, it is vital that everyone continues to follow the Government’s advice to protect themselves and their loves ones from the risk of the spread of the coronavirus”.
