Clwyd West AM Darren Millar is urging those against plans for a gypsy/traveller site in a quiet village to respond to a public consultation on the proposals.
Conwy County Council are undertaking a period of pre-planning application consultation with residents and businesses within of the vicinity of the planned gypsy site at the former Smithy layby in St George, which is between Abergele and Bodelwyddan.
This consultation was due to be just one week long, but following a request by Darren the Council agreed to extend it and residents now have until 4.45pm on Friday 6th February to send in their views.
Darren said:
“It is crucial that people make their views known. They certainly did at last Friday’s public meeting on the proposals, so I hope they now channel that energy into taking the time to respond to this consultation.
“It is vital that we stay strong in this fight and ensure our beautiful St George is protected. I am delighted that an Action Group is being established to lead the campaign against the proposals and I look forward to working with members and local councillors to see these plans scrapped.”
The Action Group will hold its first meeting at 6.30pm tomorrow at Abergele Town Council Offices, Llanddulas Road, Abergele, LL22 7BT, during which a committee will be appointed and a campaign strategy discussed.
Responses to the consultation should be submitted by 4.45pm on Friday 6th February 2015 by either emailing to Cdll.ldp@conwy.gov.uk or by posting to: Strategic Planning Policy Service, Muriau Building, Rosehill Street, Conwy, LL32 8LD.
