Clwyd West AM and Shadow Health Minister Darren Millar has welcomed news that people living in Conwy with disability and suffering rare health conditions are among those set to benefit from funding announced today by the Big Lottery Fund.
A total of 71 community-based projects across Wales share in the £279,724 awarded under the latest round of the ‘Awards for All’ small grants programme including the Myasthenia Gravis Association North Wales Branch in Conwy and Multiple Sclerosis Society Conwy County Branch.
Darren said:
"I am delighted that groups in my constituency are among those set to benefit from this latest round of lottery funding.
"The Myasthenia Gravis Association will receive £4,979 to provide support group meetings and an information day for people living with the rare long term condition which causes certain muscles to become weak, whilst the Multiple Sclerosis Society will use the grant to establish and promote a 44-week fitness programme for people from Conwy who are living with MS. This grant for £5,000 will fund venue hire, equipment, sessional instructor and assistant costs, beneficiary transport, promotion and an information day."
Gareth Williams, Awards for All Programme Manager for the Big Lottery Fund in Wales, said:
"Awards for All is having a positive impact throughout Wales. Money is helping to establish groups, societies and clubs, promoting learning, increasing volunteering opportunities and helping to build stronger communities."
