Responding to the news that his constituent Keith Woods of Llanfairtalhaiarn near Abergele has finally been given access to the cancer busting drug Sutent on the NHS, Darren Millar, Assembly Member for Clwyd West said:
‘I’m delighted that Keith has finally been given access to this drug, after what has been an unnecessarily frustrating, long and drawn out affair.
‘It is a great disappointment that funding for the drug has not been forthcoming from the Welsh NHS and that Keith had to move to England in order to access this treatment - especially given that the drug was recommended by his consultant.
'The Welsh Assembly Government should now consider whether it is appropriate for millionaires to access free prescriptions in Wales while people like Keith are denied access the drugs they need.'
