A new Minor Injuries Unit is set to open at the end of this month and will provide a better experience for staff and patients according to two local Assembly Members who visited the facility last week.
Clwyd West AM and Shadow Health Minister Darren Millar and Aberconwy AM Jane Finch-Saunders were extremely impressed with the £1.9 million unit at Llandudno Hospital which is approximately twice the size of the existing facility and will see an enhancement in the equipment available to staff.
The unit is expected to open at the end of this month.
Darren said:
“The new multi-million investment secures the future of the service in Llandudno, which currently sees around 20,000 patients every year.
“It will not only provide a better experience for patients and staff, but it will also allow more patients to be treated there which in turn will reduce demand on the emergency departments of Ysbyty Gwynedd and Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.”
Janet added:
“The existing unit was built in 1999 and was originally intended as an outpatient area and has not been able to cope with the demand. This new unit will improve services for local people, and the large number visitors who come to the area, and it will have a positive impact on the health service as a whole in north Wales."
